Hunting in Colorado - The trip of a Lifetime

Hunting big horn sheep in Colorado had to be the most interesting experience of my life thus far. With the help of our guide, on a guided hunt we tracked several big horn sheep on the side of a mountain for some 8 hours. The shot to kill one had to be a long distance shot because of the places that the big horn stay. They stay up on the side of the mountain so it is hard to reach them. After waiting for several hours, my guide and I decided to take the shot. WOW what an exciting moment. My Colorado hunting trip was an awesome experience. I would definitely recommend a Colorado hunting trips for anyone interested in probably one of the most exhilarating moments in their life.

Are you new to the hunting or fishing scene?  Well there are many exciting ways to spend time in the woods while still receiving the best yield for you efforts.  When you’re first getting started you’ll notice that there is a ton of hunting and fishing supply warehouses and lots of places to go hunting or fishing.    Alaska, Montana, Colorado, Texas and Iowa are some of the best hunting states as far as big game is concerned.

Alaska hunting trips are detail oriented and take time to plan if you are to have success. Knowing the terrain is crucial to finding the Dall sheep that you might be after.  Dall sheep hunting involves tracking in the mountains and knowing a good guide is definitely a plus. Known for their massive horns dall sheep are the best sheep to hunt. If you’re not that into sheep hunting, then maybe a larger prey would be nice….say a bear for instance. When bear hunting in Alaska, you need to decide which bear you plan on hunting.  Alaska is known for their brown bear, but black bears can be hunted as well.  Caribou make for a more challenging hunt and can be hunted almost anytime during the year.  Alaska Caribou hunting is some of the best in the world excluding some places in Canada were Caribou are hunted for 9 months out of the year. Alaska Moose hunting is also challenging and rewarding.  Moose are large animals and cover a great range and territory so hunting them with a guide is probably advisable.  Alaskan hunting is a great way to get to know family and friends and make new friends.

So you can’t afford the flight to Alaska, then go to the Rocky mountains for some great hunting.  Colorado hunting trips are just as successful as Alaskan ones.  Can you imagine peering through your scope and catching the shoulder of a huge mule deer or whitetail?  That experience is known as Colorado deer hunting and exploration.  Sure you can hunt deer in Georgia and Alabama, but how many of your friends can say they’ve killed a deer in the mountains of Colorado. The absolute key to a successful hunt is using a Colorado hunting guide.  These guides are individuals that live and breathe Colorado hunting.  They know the right spots and among them are really good Colorado outfitters that can supply the right gear if you’ve forgotten to take something along on the flight.  So when you’re planning your next Colorado elk hunting trip be sure and check the weather, check your gear, and contact the right guide to help take you to hunting ecstasy.  This information was provided by ColdMountainOutfitters.com along with hunting and fishing crews from all over Alaska and Colorado.
